Corruption can take many forms linked to different types of behavior, such as bribery, embezzlement, nepotism, extortion, kickbacks, money laundering, fraud, and conflicts of interest.

Corruption case increased by 6.4 % in first half 2024 in Mongolia
Mongolia is the 121 least corrupt nation out of 180 countries, according to the 2023 Corruption Perceptions Index reported by Transparency International. Corruption Rank in Mongolia averaged 97.38 from 1999 until 2023, reaching an all-time high of 121.00 in 2023 and a record low of 43.00 in 1999.
According to the Prosecutor General's Office of Mongolia, the crime of using politically influential job positions accounts for 79% of all corruption cases, while the crime of accepting bribes accounts for 17% and the crime of giving bribes accounts for 9.2%.
In the first half of 2024, the prosecutor's office supervised 1,366 investigations of corruption, which is an increase of 9.5% compared to the same period last year. Of these, 167 cases were indicted and transferred to court for resolution. It includes:

Of MNT 2.2 trillion losses caused by corruption, MNT 1.6 trillion losses were compensated by the perpetrators. Also, assets worth MNT 42.8 billion of people involved in crime and legal entities were seized during the investigation, and assets worth MNT 1.8 billion were confiscated.
