We organized ‘’Disabled Children’s Rights’’ trainings involved 100 parents and volunteers. The training aimed to educate parents, representatives and volunteers of NGOs working on child rights about rights of children with disabilities. We taught them about Overview of the Rights of the Child and the Rights of Children with Disabilities, Law implementation on Protection of Child Rights, How to Prevent Violence Against Children, How to Prevent Domestic Violence and Sexual Intercourse, How to help children affected by domestic and sexual abuse, How to organize public awareness campaigns, public awareness, and how to change attitudes and practices.
We organized sports’ trainings and athletic competitions in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children with intellectual disabilities during the project implementation time and preparing them for Regional, National and World Special Olympics’ Games (summer) (table tennis, judo, swimming, football, basketball, volleyball, athletics, and powerlifting). Those activities are giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship.
We created disabled girls’ and boys’ clubs involved 22 disabled girls and 18 disabled boys and supporting their activities. Clubs’ activities are very important for disabled children to empower themselves. Clubs’ members have organized some activities and events every Saturday. We organized sports and art’s competitions, poster, ‘’AXA’’ Question and Answer competitions, English lessons, trainings’ for parents of disabled children with clubs’ members. We organized meetings involved disabled children and promoting clubs’ activities during the project implementation time. During these meetings they evaluated the previous month’s work and planned for the following month’s work and activities.
